Proudly Presents:

PUTTER
SMITH
AND
GARY
FOSTER
DUO

PUTTER SMITH has recorded 7 trio albums with Alan Broadbent over the past 25 years and has two
albums under his own name.  He has been featured on recordings with Walter Norris, Karin Alyson, John
Gross, Mose Alison, Warne Marsh, Bill Perkins, Mark Turner, Sam Most and Dave Koonse,  Karen
Hammacks album, “Lonesome Tree" is a favorite.

His most recent recordings (2007) include Larry Koonse’s tribute to Jimmy Wyble, a duo with Gary Foster,
and David Sill’s quintet.

GARY FOSTER lives in Los Angeles where he is a freelance musician performing on clarinet, saxophone
and flute.  He has performed and recorded with jazz groups led by Clare Fischer, Warne Marsh, Cal Tjader,
Shelly Manne, Moacir Santos and Jimmy Rowles.

Perfect Circularity, a duo CD with Putter Smith, was released in September 2007.  Steve Futterman writes in
Jazz Times “Gary Foster is an avowed Konitz acolyte who has even recorded with his main inspiration.
Smith may be best known for his fruitful association with pianist Alan Broadbent.  What radiates most clearly
form Perfect Circularity, apart from the individual excellence and extraordinary responsiveness that the
musical partners display, is the youthful vigor and explorative nature that these veteran players practically
flaunt.”

Please mark your calendars for future performance at 5:00 PM
